MedPlant4Vet Project sparks interest at Turkish Veterinary Pharmacology Assembly

Professor Begüm Yurdakok Dikmen presented an overview of the MedPlant4Vet project at the General Assembly of the Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology Association of Turkey, held in Ankara on 14 September. The initiative, which aims to integrate medicinal plants into veterinary treatment, received considerable attention from participants, highlighting its potential to improve animal and public health. Prof Dikmen engaged with young researchers and answered questions about the project's objectives and applications.


At the General Assembly of the Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology Association of Turkey on 14 September in Ankara, Prof Dr Begüm Yurdakok Dikmen from Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and member of WG4 and WG6, gave a short presentation on the MedPlant4Vet project. During the meeting, the objectives, research plans and potential impact of the project on veterinary pharmacology were explained, emphasising the integration of medicinal plants into veterinary treatments to improve animal and public health. The project generated a lot of interest among the participants, and Prof Dr Yurdakok Dikmen answered several questions about its scope and potential applications for young researchers.

The Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology Association of Turkey, founded in 1997, aims to promote veterinary pharmacology and toxicology. Its mission includes promoting the responsible use of drugs in animals to improve animal health and prevent residue problems in animal-derived foods. The association encourages professional cooperation among its members, supports scientific research and promotes high quality scientists and researchers. It collaborates with national and international institutions, organises public and scientific events and raises awareness of the prudent use of medicines in animals.
